Jimmy and Jen loved the active bee hive. This is what kept their intrest more then anything else.
Jen holding skin that a snake had shed this morning. She'll touch anything once.
Today's field trip was at the Stoney Creek nature center. It is a fairly new center with tons of stuff for the kids to do. They have turtles, snakes, frogs and fish in aquariums. They also have a huge bird exibit and different animal pellets for the kids touch. The entire center is very kid friendly and hands on-we love that since that is what is gonna happen anyway. With only the slight possibillity of an animal being let loose, I was able to let my guard down and let them touch anything and everything.
Outside there were two cages - one with an injured hawk and the other with a crow. After the entire 15 seconds of intrest, it was off to the trails. We went on a 1/2 mile trail- I figured that was about as long as they could handle since Jimmy and I were wearing our flip-flops and Jenna is just a natural complainer when it comes to anything physical. It must be really difficult carrying around 40lbs!!!!! It was a great little trail with a lot of little walk out decks over the creek. Next time I will make sure to wear tennis shoes and take a longer trail.
Overall, I would defiantly recommend and will probably be going again sometime this summer. If nothing else, it makes a good backdrop for some great pictures.
