CUPCAKE DISASTER

In Jenevive's classroom everyone is assigned a day to be the VIP of the day. Basically you and a helper take the attendance down to the office, you are first in line for everything, get to bring in a show and tell and the best part ...you get to bring in a snack and drink for everyone.
I love to bake so Jen usually brings in some sort of homemade goodie. Since Halloween is right around the corner, I thought candy corn cupcakes would be fun to bring in. You make a regular white cake batter and divide into three bowls. I used food coloring to make orange and yellow batter then layered it in a muffin liner. I've also made rainbow cupcakes using 5 or 6 different colors which were fun to bite into.
Jimmy wanted to bring in a snack for his class as well, so I made cute little mini cupcakes for all of his friends at school. I thought it wouldn't be a problem... I was was wrong. This is what the container looked like when I got it back at the end of the day:

I don't even know how you could make this happen. I'm thinking you would have to shake the crap out of it to even come close. I have no idea what they even looked like when he brought them in the class. I asked him what happened and he just said the bus made a stop and they flew all around. All I could do was laugh. The teacher must have thought I was nuts. They did end up eating them he said - what a mess.

72 PIECES OF FUN

While we were shopping this past weekend we found a huge bucket with 72 army men, army tanks, an airplane and some barricade's. The best part was that it was on sale for $5.oo. It has probably been the best $5.00 I have ever spent.
Normally I don't buy toys with a gazillion pieces, but I'm glad I did. This bucket kept Jimmy busy for well over a hour. He took his time setting everything up"just right".

He lined up all of his cars on one side, and his army men on the other. He is very much into anything to do with the Army right now.

A New School Year

With a new Hello Kitty backpack, Jenevive was ready for the new school year. This year she is in second grade and has an awesome teacher-Mrs Mack. I know she will have a great year.

She was thrilled to see some of her friends again. The only down side was that the girls were split into two different classes again, so they will only see each other during recess and lunch.

Kaiden met up with us on the school yard for the first day.. He is going into first grade this year. Their classrooms are right across for each other this year and they wait together in the morning for the doors to open. The only problem is that Jenna has graduated to the "Big Kid's" playground and Kaiden still has to stay at the littler one. They did make arrangements to meet in the middle at the wood chips during recess. They are too funny! They act like an old married couple some times.

Jenna and her BFF Angel. They are still in the same class this year, so that made Jen very happy.

The next day Jimmy started 4 year old preschool in his new school. He has Mrs Faller and Mrs Adrianne and his best friend Christian is in his class again this year. Due to budget cuts, they closed his old school and moved his class into another elementary. Of course it couldn't have been at Jenna's school- that would have been too easy. The school year has only just started and I'm already looking forward to next year when they will go together in one school and Jimmy will be in all day Kindergarten.

A Day In The Life Of A Flower Girl

If you ask Jenna, she has been waiting her whole life to be a flower girl- all 7 years and 9 days! Sorry for the picture overload, but it was hard to only choose a few . My Step dad was getting remarried and when she found out that she was going to be in the wedding, she was over the moon. The dresses were perfect- everything that a little flower girl dress should be.
The night before, we went to Grandma Sue's sister's house to have rods set in her hair. I thought we were going to be up all night with them, but she was a trooper. When the rods were taken out the next morning, I was a Little worried. She looked like Shirley Temple.

But it all worked out in the end. Her hair stayed curled the entire night, even with all of the dancing she did. I was impressed.

Grandma Sue with her two flower girls. Her niece Emily was the other flower girl standing up. Jen and Emily have become very close over the years and loved doing this together.

And this was the biggest deal of the day. Besides waiting her whole life to be a flower girl, she also has been waiting to ride in a limo. She loved every minute and didn't want to get out.

We had a little time before the ceremony, so we had to take a million pictures.

I LOVE this picture. It shows all of the detail in the back of the dress, and they look sweet and innocent- looks can be deceiving. These two girls can be double trouble sometimes.

Jenevive did such a great job walking down the huge staircase and held her smile the whole time. It was very hard not to cry watching her.

Jenna and her Papa Mike. She does adore him, and he treats her like a princess.

The newlyweds. Mr & Mrs Malley.

This kids made their grand entrance with sunglasses on and fist pumping to the music. They defiantly stole the show. Jen had a blast and we pretty much let her have free reign. She must have made 6 trips to the bar for Shirley Temples and she was defiantly the dancing queen of the night. I don't think she even sat out a dance, she even tried to learn the hussel. It was fun to watch her just enjoy the night. Jen danced with anyone who was available:

Daddy stole a dance with his girl.

She got Uncle Scott out on the floor several times. She kept doing the dirty dancing move- running into his arms and he lifted her up in the air. I think Uncle Scott slept just as good as Jen did that night.

Papa Mike even danced with the girls.

Jen fought us about leaving the reception. She passed out within only a few minutes of getting in the car. I don't think she will ever forget this night and if any one needs a flower girl, just call.

My Brave Boy

The day has finally come for Jimmy to have his nose cauterized. To make him feel comfortable and "excited" about the surgery,we went shopping for new slippers and had to pick up the matching pajama's.
He was so excited that the pajamas had a cape. He went to bed pretty good but of course woke up in the middle of the night with a bloody nose and had blood all over his top. I did wash a 11:00pm sounds like fun huh?

He was less then thrilled to take off his batman pj's and put on the hospital gown.

This was taken right before they came to get him. I thought he was going to cry, but he didn't - he was so brave. I think he was just ready to get it over and done with ad be done with all of the bloody noses. The nurse had told him that when he was done she would get him a Popsicle and some juice.

As the transporter brought him back he said " Someone needs to get this boy a Popsicle. It's all he's been talking about since I picked him up". Dr Fishman was able to do both side of his nose which he didn't think he was going to be able to do. We were so happy that we don't have to bring him back in for another surgery since they had to intubate him and put an IV in. Beside having a sore throat and a stuffy itchy nose, he is doing great.
